Reading & Discussion
Students read more challenging stories, articles and other texts. They learn new words and build speaking and listening skills.
They give clear summaries of what they read and discuss in class. They use evidence and details from the text to support their ideas.
Writing & Research
Students write often. They gather information, organize it and explain what it means. They learn to share their findings in clear ways.
Decimals & Fractions
Students use decimals through the hundredths place to learn more about place value.
They add, subtract and multiply fractions. They also work with fractions that have different denominators, or bottom numbers.
Geometry & Measurement
Students build skills with shapes and measurement. They learn about volume: how much space a solid figure takes up. They practice finding the volume of solid figures.

Leer y conversar
Los alumnos leen cuentos, artículos y otros textos más complejos. Aprenden palabras nuevas. Practican cómo hablar y escuchar.
Resumen lo que leen y lo que hablan en clase. Usan pruebas y detalles del texto para apoyar sus ideas.
Escribir y buscar datos
Los alumnos escriben con frecuencia. Buscan datos, los ordenan y explican qué significan. Aprenden a compartir lo que encuentran de forma clara.
Decimales y fracciones
Los alumnos usan decimales hasta las centésimas. Así aprenden más sobre el valor de cada cifra según su lugar.
Suman, restan y multiplican fracciones. También trabajan con fracciones que tienen distintos denominadores, o números de abajo.
Figuras y medidas
Los alumnos aprenden más sobre figuras y medidas. Estudian el volumen: cuánto espacio ocupa una figura sólida. Practican cómo hallar ese volumen.
